We are the UK distributor for Leja products
Microm is the UK distributor for Leja and supplies a wide range of Leja slides, for manual counting, and with CASA systems, in both human and veterinary laboratories. Uses include post vasectomy semen analysis, toxicology studies and assisted reproduction techniques.
Most accurate on the market
High quality disposable counting chambers for semen analysis analysis. Due to their special characteristics, Leja slides save both time and increase the level of accuracy and precision for semen analysis.
How accurate and how precise is your counting method?
A number is not always what it seems to be. What is the confidence interval? The Leja 100micron slide has two purposes. First, it can be used to determine azoospermia, and secondly it can be used to perform a post-vasectomy check. Accuracy is extremely important, this Leja slide gives you accuracy, precision, and speed!
Statistically speaking it is impossible to assess a concentration of zero. Therefore, it seems impossible to determine azoospermia, since by definition there are no sperms. Due to the large, fixed volume of the chamber, the Leja method for determining azoospermia is the most accurate and reliable method to determine azoospermia and very low sperm count (0- 20,000/ml).
The Leja 100micron slide is the best way of getting a statistical meaningful result combined with speed.
To get the most from CASA systems (such as Microptic SCA system, or Hamilton Thorne IVOS) it is vital to use calibrated slides.
Only calibrated slides provide the accuracy and precision needed to reliably analyse semen. But not all calibrated slides are of the same quality.
The Leja slide is more accurate and more reliable than its competitors, and, it is a perfect tool to use with most CASA systems. It allows for the standardisation of analyses for repeatable, objective measurements.
This is why it is widely used by semen production centres, veterinarians, and research centres.
Leja has been making slides since 1992 and has a solid expertise in manufacturing and quality control.
We supply Leja slides in the following size ranges, supplied in boxes of 25 slides.
Leja 10 Micron 4 Chamber – boxes of 25 slides (SC-10-01-04-B-CE)
Leja 20 Micron 2 (IVD) Chamber – boxes of 25 slides (SC-20-01-02-B-CE)
Leja 20 Micron 4 (IVD) Chamber – boxes of 25 slides (SC-20-01-04-B-CE)
Leja 100 Micron 2 (high precision IVD) Chamber – boxes of 25 slides (SC-100-01-02-A-CE)
Semen analysis accuracy is crucial because it has a direct impact on the results calculated by CASA systems. This, in turn, may affect economic returns.
Constant chamber depth
A calibrated slide’s accuracy is related to the consistency of chamber depth.
Leja has developed a production method that ensures constant depth. Leja is the only manufacturer capable of delivering certification to prove it.
To achieve this level of quality, Leja has established strict controls:
- inspection and tracking of raw materials
- toxicity checks
- depth checks
- 18-point visual inspection
The high quality of the glass being used ensures a faithful image of sperm cells, the quality required for CASA analysis.
Producing slides in a clean room minimizes the risk of dust being deposited on the slide, thereby preventing reading errors and making the analysis even more accurate.
All elements used are non-spermicidal, and a semen toxicity check is performed on every batch of slides produced.
A certificate of analysis is issued for each batch.
Filling the chamber is one of the most important steps to ensure for reliable concentration and sperm mobility measurements.
To guarantee repeatability, the filling of the chambers with capillary action is made possible by our proprietary glass coating materials.
Spermatozoa do not stick to the slide, and are evenly distributed. Bubble formation is minimized with our technology.
These features allow standardized procedures and accurate measurements and may result in higher returns on investment for the user.
All slides are covered with a special coating to prevent air bubble formation and to prevent semen from sticking to the chamber surface. The resin and ink used are both non-toxic.
The Leja slides have an excellent low limit of quantification and can handle high sperm concentrations. This has a direct clinical impact: You will be better prepared to determine the thresholds for the various Assisted Reproduction Technologies methods (waiting for natural conception, intrauterine insemination, in-vitro fertilisation or intracytoplasmic sperm injection) and to decide which treatment is best for a couple. The high level of accuracy and precision of the Leja counting chambers will allow your results to be compared with other laboratories’ scientific data concerning the relationship between semen parameters (concentration, motility, viscosity) and fertility.
Technical Specifications: Slides with 2, 4 or 8 chambers, Depth 10, 12, 20 or 100 microns.
